Ecoffins USA is importing Fair Trade Certified Bamboo coffins to the U.S. and the Natural Burial Company is distirbuting them.
With over a decade of experience in producing thousands of coffins for established woodland burial grounds in England, this family factory located in the Hunan Province of China is regarded as a model in the region for the support of its employees and their traditional handicrafts. All aspects of production encourage the use of traditional skills, allowing the craftsmen to maintain their time-honored livelihoods.
The bamboo used in these coffins is a variety that pandas will not eat, grown and cut under license from the Chinese government. These coffins are suitable for cremation as well as burial, with wooden runners on the bottom, and include cotton liners and bamboo headrests. A range of styles and sizes, including some for pets, are available.
